I've been a really lazy blogger of late for a few reasons. Time is with school and the stuff in the evenings. I'm becoming increasingly concerned about what I really want to share. Yet, each year, as I print our blog in book form, I see how much the girls love to look back at the record of our life together. I'm feeling so wishy-washy about what to blog about that I just haven't been blogging. Still, I don't want to lose this so I need to get back to it with the things I feel comfortable sharing.
- Violet is still really liking her new school. From talking with new friends, she has a goal of going to a particular middle school that is an academic based magnet program. She's working hard to get the grades to get in there. There were some issues that came up on her recent progress report but I think we've got it worked out now. We'll see how it goes.
- Blueberry still has a lot of school-related anxiety but she says she likes school and is learning a lot. She had her first field trip on Friday and it involved riding on a school bus. She was absolutely terrified about getting on a bus but when I picked her up at the end of school that day, she was bursting with excitement from the fun of the field trip.
- Violet has started cross country and loves it. She is still playing guitar and loves that too. Unfortunately, we don't get to watch Violet's guitar lessons but I do get to hear her practice and I think she's really learning a lot.
- Blueberry is still taking riding lessons and is in heaven every time she goes to the stables. She also wants to take gymnastics and I'm not sure, right now, how to fit that into our schedule. She had a makeup riding lesson on Friday afternoon so I got to watch. For part of the lesson, Panther was on a lead and Blueberry was riding with her hands on her hips, just using her legs for balance. It was so cool!
- We've started talking about planning a road trip next summer out west. The girls are pretty excited about this.
- I found out I got a big raise at work last week. I am so lucky to have a job that I mostly enjoy (can anyone ever like their job all the time?) with a boss that is supportive of me. This should definitely help me reach my savings goal.
- We got a letter from Violet's mom in Ethiopia last week...big time excitement here!
- Violet had her well child check this week. She's in perfect health and has gone from not being on the growth chart at all 4 years ago to being ~50% for both height and weight. She's almost as tall as me and has the same size feet as me. YIKES!
- Blueberry went to church with Violet and my parents this morning. This is HUGE!!! She reminded me several times that it's okay for her to go because she will always come back to me (hmm...it sounded like an eerily familiar conversation...only backwards). I had 3 whole hours alone. I grocery shopped in record time, got stuff done in the kitchen, some cooking done for the coming week. It was awesome and the Blueberry came home on cloud 9 for having gone. Now she can't wait to go back next week. Neither can I!
- I have several things that I want to get listed on craigslist but I just need a kick in the pants to get it done. Vegging on the couch with the girls is so much more fun than being productive.

I hear you on the blogging thing. I'm so forgetful, (and doubt that will improve with age!) so I try to blog at least twice a month. Since I went private, I think only 2 people read it...but it's really for us anyway.
I hope your trip out west includes a stop at MoGuate because we are saving our pennies to go next summer and we want to meet YOU!
I always love reading your updates. Congrats on the raise-that is awesome as you're saving!
